Three people sustain serious injuries after road accidents

Two people have been airlifted to Melbourne and another to Latrobe Regional Hospital, following two separate traffic incidents in South Gippsland earlier this week.

The first accident occurred on Meeniyan Promontory Road in Buffalo just before 8pm.

A vehicle driven by a 19 year old male from Yanakie crossed double lines on a bend, colliding head on with another car.

Both drivers were trapped inside their cars, sustaining serious leg injuries, before road rescue crew cut the pair free.

The pair were shortly airlifted to Melbourne.

The second incident occurred around 5am on the Leongatha-Yarragon Road, near Dawsons Road, when a vehicle rolled over on a bend.

The 48 year old female driver received injuries to her upper body and was taken to Latrobe Regional Hospital by ambulance.

Local authorities urge drivers to take care on the roads, especially in wet weather conditions.
