Nominations for Baw Baw Shire Australia Day awards commence

Nominations are now open for the Baw Baw Shire Australia Day Awards 2017, which aim recognise inspiring people who give back to the community. 

Baw Baw Shire’s Australia Day Awards consist of five categories that include Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award, Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year Award, Australia Day Medallion, Community Event of the Year Award and Community Contributions.

The Community Contributions category consists of three sub-categories: environmental achievements, sporting achievements, and cultural achievements.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Joe Gauci said he was excited the nominations were open and urged the community to vote. 

“The awards are a wonderful way to show recognition for the inspiring people who give so much to our communities throughout the year”, CR Joe Gauci said.

“I would encourage all Baw Baw Shire residents to nominate someone they believe has made a significant contribution to their community. It could be a friend, family member, fellow volunteer, or even a group or event that you believe has made a positive difference to our way of life in the Shire.”

 

Nominations for Baw Baw Shire’s Australia Day Awards are now open 5.00pm, Friday 2 September 2016.
